+ Pick one [or more!] of my icons. This would, I think, work better if I had more icons. If we share a fandom for which you have icons, use said icon and I might write something based on that as well?
+ I will (try my best to) write you at least one sentence of something vaguely resembling fiction based on said icon.

Date: 2011-07-01 04:34 am (UTC)Rather Do Without - 1/1 [Double drabble]
Date: 2011-07-01 05:53 pm (UTC)She stops thinking of herself as Raven almost by accident, somewhere between the beach and eight months later when she stares at Charles across the smoking remains of a car. He whispers "Raven?" as if he somehow didn't sense her coming, legs crumpled underneath him - and God, she didn't know, she left him and she didn't know - and overlaying the panic and the guilt, she shudders. Not me, that's not me, and she doesn't know why.
"Mystique!" Angel calls over the trees, swoops down and stretches out her hands; Mystique reaches upwards and clings to Angel's waist, careful of her wings, and the two of them zip free. Azazel will have got the others safe by now.
Mystique doesn't look back. She doesn't know why.
That night she curls up on the hotel bed and glimpses herself in the mirror, traces the patterns of scales on the side of her neck with a shaky, still-shy smile, and realizes that she doesn't miss anything or anyone except Charles, and she doesn't miss him nearly as much as she thought she would.
It's a little bit frightening, but she hasn't stopped smiling, and she isn't faking it for anyone either.

Everyone believes in something. River Song believes in herself, first and foremost, and she believes that a clear head, some stubbornness, and a good weapon will get you out of anything – and the first two will usually supply the third. She believes in doing what needs to be done, particularly if nobody else is going to do it, and she believes that nothing is sacred if you can maneuver your way to being there while it was built by people who swore and belched like anyone else – or their species’ equivalent of belching, at any rate. She believes that there’s no point in being stately or severe when she can do the job just as well and amuse herself into the bargain. Take life’s pleasures when they come, and all that.
She believes in not asking questions when it’s a waste of time and in shooting as soon as you get an answer that requires it. She believes that anything which comes easily is probably either boring or bringing a lot more trouble with it, she believes in irritating guards on general principle (as long as she doesn’t need them), and she believes deeply in the many, many uses of lipstick. Almost against her will, she believes in the Doctor, and she believes rather strongly in the idea of waiting – but never just waiting.
If you press her, River will confess that she believes in love – in loving deeply and ferociously and over and over again, no matter what happens and no matter who leaves you and no matter whom you find yourself becoming and no matter how long it has to last. She will be lying, but you’ll never catch her, because she’s convinced that she believes. And she truly does believe in the people who taught her such determination and such hope, so in the face of everything she does her best to keep on loving.
